|European project to bring Precision Livestock Farming from the lab to the farm|

Since 2003, scientists mainly in Europe have developed a number of Precision Livestock Farming (PLF) tools in laboratories. These tools would allow the farmer to monitor animals automatically and continuously, and warn him if something goes wrong. The EU-PLF project (www.eu-plf.eu), funded by the European Commission is designed to look at the feasibility of bringing proven and cost-effective PLF tools from the lab to the farm.
“As the wealth of countries increases, the worldwide demand for animal products will increase in the next 15 years by 40%. This puts a lot of pressure and workload on farmers since they have not enough time anymore to follow each individual animal the way their grandparents did,” states Daniel Berckmans, EU-PLF project coordinator when discussing the relevance of the project.

We, Division of MeBioS of K.U.Leuven (Belgium), are looking to form/join a consortium in the framework of the FP7-KBBE-2012-6, and more specific in "KBBE.2012.1.1-02: Animal and farm-centric approach to precision livestock farming in Europe".
We are specialists in advanced data-analysis to design early warning systems for livestock production. With our consortium we obtained a ICT-AGRI project called PigWise for monitoring of performance of slaughter pigs. We are already active (on a national scale) in monitoring and problem detection in laying hens en dairy cows. For more information, please check our profile and research postings.
We want to know about ideas for projects, forming consortia, other interested parties to submit a proposal on this call.

|Multi-agent and robotics research group is looking for consortium partners|

Our research group at Riga Technical University is planning to apply for ICT-AGRI research project call in Latvia. The intended title is “Development of multi-agent robotic intelligent system’s technology for precision agriculture”. We intend to build a system consisting of multiple robots managed and coordinated by a multi-agent system. The system is intended for a certain task needed in arable farming, like provision of certain doses of water and muck to plants in greenhouses, field or certain area inspection to discover diseases or pests, etc.
We are capable to build a multi-agent system for coordination, management and planning and we need partners that are willing to build robots with self-localisation and partners that are agriculture specialists and are willing to study the effectiveness of the proposed method in real environment or something very close to the real environment.

Our research group is planning to apply to national contractor of ICT-AGRI in Turkey for a research project. The prospective title is “Design and prototype production of a pesticide spraying robot for greenhouses”. The members of our research group have experience in integrated design and analysis of robots, and image processing. Design and analysis by SolidWorks+ CosmosMotion+ CosmosWorks package and PC-based control are integrated by using Aplication Programming Interface (API) capabilities.
We would like to join an existing or new consortium who plan to apply for a research projects in the area of greenhouse robotics, autonomous agricultural robots, or related areas.

The international commerce of animals, vegetal and derived product is free as long as regulated by the requirements of International Treatment, in particular the WTO-SPS Agreement
The properties of the products are included in the documents of the Agreement; Italy is interested to include in those documents, the properties of the exported and imported agriculture and food products .
That documents are essential to guide consumers and economic operators towards mature and aware choises.
The aim of the proposals, based on the experience of www.ars-alimentaria.it site, is to build a web site to publish the documentations related to the properties of the vegetable and animal products that are subject to international transactions.
The site will be based on a public access to the database that will include the documentation related the products that are subject to international transactions, including product characteristics, ingredients, process phases, nutritional composition, photos.
In the first phase of the project, the products (raw material or processed food) exchanged between the members State of the project (Greece, Turkey, Israel, Spain) will have the priority chars

ISMB is an applied research center in the field of ICT and wireless technologies.
We can offer competences on Information Systems Architecture (cloud computing, Software as a Service, Data Mining, Human Machine Interfaces etc) and on embedded systems/wireless technologies, indoor/outdoor localization and navigation systems.
Among the application domains of this wide set of technologies environmental monitoring represents one of the most promising, and its application to agriculture could lead to major advantages in terms of awareness, efficiency, resources control and management.
We would like to participate in this call either joining an existing consortium or by setting up a new one.
Potential contributions, in addition to environmental monitoring, could be in the area of unmanned vehicles/robot design (limited to the ICT part), onboard units for existing vehicles to improve automation of field operations etc
